Meet the new guy . . .

Fox Chase Cancer Center’s board of directors last week selected Dr. Michael V. Seiden to replace Dr. Robert C. Young as president.
Seiden, 48, will succeed Young on June 1. He joins the center from the Massachusetts General Hospital’s division of cancer medicine and as program leader at the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center.
The board of directors conducted a national search after Young announced his decision to leave the post last September.
"I am honored and excited to be joining Fox Chase Cancer Center and working with a committed team of individuals in improving the lives of people with cancer now and in the future," Seiden said in a statement.
William J. Avery, chairman of the board of directors, described Seiden as a "strong visionary" whose experience as a leader, clinician and scientist promises future success for Fox Chase.
"He is a compassionate clinician and an insightful scientist with an unwavering commitment to both patient care and cancer research that is matched by a keen business judgment," he said.
Seiden, born in Queens, N.Y., is a board-certified oncologist who leads the gynecologic cancer program at Dana-Farber/Harvard and is chief of the clinical research unit at Massachusetts General Hospital’s division of cancer medicine. ••
