16 banks and counting
The FBI believes the same individual has robbed eight banks in the last 16 months, with three of the crimes occurring in the Northeast.
The suspect last struck on March 7 at 11:39 a.m. at the Prudential Savings Bank at 1834 Oregon Ave. in South Philadelphia. He presented a demand note claiming to have a bomb and a gun and left with an undisclosed amount of money. But, he threw away the money when a dye pack exploded in the bag holding the cash.
The individual is suspected in the following heists:
Port Richmond Savings, 2522 E. Allegheny Ave., on Nov. 1, 2005.
Citizens Bank, 6958 Torresdale Ave., on Dec. 17, 2005.
Washington Savings Association, 2548 E. Lehigh Ave., on Jan. 31, 2006.
3rd Federal Savings, 2601 Orthodox St., on March 3, 2006.
Beneficial Savings Bank, 2845 Holme Ave., on April 4, 2006.
3rd Federal Savings, 905 N. 2nd St., on May 18, 2006.
Bank of America, 6425 Rising Sun Ave., on Sept. 22, 2006.
The man wanted is white, in his late 40s or early 50s, about 6 feet tall, with a medium build and no facial hair.
