Heads up for summer danger!

To most people, June 21 marked the start of summer.
To Dr. Joseph Karam, the date signified the beginning of what he calls "Trauma Season."
Karam — head of trauma, surgical and critical care at Hahnemann University Hospital — sees a sharp increase in cases during the warm weather months.
The injuries include burns from barbecues, head wounds sustained after diving into shallow water, and brain and spinal-cord injuries suffered in car crashes . . .

The Phils drop the ball

If you’ve been reading all about Brett Myers this week, you now know that the baseball term "lights out" doesn’t apply just to the Phillies pitcher’s ability to blow his fastball past batters.
It also applies to the hit he supposedly laid on the face of his wife Kim during a spat on a Boston street last Friday morning.
We could go on and on about what an uncool move that was. But the media and the sports-radio callers and the bar patrons have addressed that pretty well. Suffice to say that Brett Myers, at 6-feet-4, 220 pounds, is accused of hitting a girl. Even worse, his wife.
