Former Lawncrest deli
will soon be a Wawa

Wawa will hold two upcoming employment open houses for its new store at Rising Sun and Longshore avenues.
The company will welcome prospective employees on Friday, April 7, at the Wawa at 7913-29 Oxford Ave., and on Monday, April 10, at the store at 801 Cottman Ave.
Individuals can apply for jobs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Wawa officials made the announcement at last week’s monthly meeting of the Lawncrest Community Association.
The new Wawa will open on May 11. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony the following day at 10 a.m.
The store — which is on the site of the former McKeown’s Deli — will include 12 gas pumps and employ 55 to 60 people.

In other news from the March 21 meeting, St. William School will hold a benefit dinner dance on Saturday, April 29, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at the parish hall, at Argyle and Robbins streets.
The cost is $35 per person or $30 per person for a table of 10.
Proceeds will go toward new roofs for the school.
There will be a disc jockey, dinner buffet, wine, beer and soda.
All guests are welcome to attend the 5 p.m. Mass before the benefit. Tickets are on sale at the rectory.

Also, the Friends of Tacony Creek will meet on Thursday, March 30, at 7 p.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel, at Rising Sun Avenue and Van Kirk Street.
And state Rep. Dwight Evans (D-202nd dist.) will hold district office hours on Thursday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army. Enter on Alcott Street.
Lawncrest Community Association will meet again on Tuesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at St. William parish hall.
The guest will be Paul Andris, president of the Police Radio Advisory Board, who will offer a video presentation on the 911 system.
