Police ask for help in
identifying graffiti vandals

The 8th Police District and Northeast Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying vandals who have spray painted graffiti on several area shopping centers in recent weeks.
The biggest incident occurred late on Oct. 3 behind the Knights Shopping Center, at Woodhaven and Knights roads.
When employees of the various stores showed up for work the following day, they observed the vandalism stretching virtually the length of the strip in a rear driveway.
Names or "tags" appearing repeatedly there included "LTV," "EMEM," "ENCO," "SKAM," "LINK" and "JAEM."
According to Lt. Sue Farley of the 8th district, the city’s Community Life Improvement Program (CLIP) repainted the defaced rear walls of the stores on Oct. 20, but more graffiti was back on the walls the next day.
Other locations with damage have included Academy Plaza and another shopping center at Frankford and Morrell avenues.
"There’s been the same tags in at least two of (the incidents)," Farley said.
According to Detective Jim Boyle, investigators have a surveillance video of the group that took part in the first incident. The four graffitists appear to be white males in their late teens. One rode a bicycle and had baggy clothes.
Anyone who saw any vandalism or who knows the vandals is asked to call the 8th district at 215-686-3080 or Northeast Detectives at 215-686-3153.
Any crime in progress should be reported to 911. Callers can remain anonymous. ••
