Frederick Burkeholder must not read newspapers, watch TV or listen to the radio, for that matter.
On the very day that his mug shot and surveillance photos of him allegedly robbing a bank hit the streets and the airwaves of the city, Burkeholder robbed another bank, at least the eighth in his recent spree, authorities claim.
One day after that, on Aug. 18, FBI agents captured him in Northeast Philadelphia, holed up at the HUB Motel, 7605 Roosevelt Blvd. He was arrested without incident at about 12:30 p.m.
Though Burkeholder, 39, of West Philadelphia, robbed banks all over the city mostly Wachovia branches, investigators claim he is not believed to have struck in the Northeast.
The alleged locations of his crimes include Upper Darby, South Philadelphia, Port Richmond, Kensington and North Philadelphia. They occurred between July 16 and last week.
Typically, the FBI claims, Burkeholder would enter the bank holding a bag and hand a teller a demand note claiming that he had an explosive or a gun inside the bag.
Upon fleeing, he would drop the bag, which contained trash. oo
