Police seek suspect in abduction, robbery of check-cashing agency

Philadelphia police are seeking the public's help in locating a man wanted in connection with a Sept. 26 home invasion, abduction and robbery involving a Lower Frankford check-cashing business.

Omar Hardy, 30, with a last known address of the 5100 block of Wayne Ave., and two co-conspirators allegedly broke into the West Mt. Airy home of 27-year-old Katrina Taylor at about 10 o'clock that night.

The three bandits bound and gagged Taylor and her 8-year-old son, then stayed with them until the following morning, according to Det. John Verrecchio of Northwest Detectives.

While holding Taylor's son hostage, the suspects allegedly forced Taylor to drive alone to her place of employment, Currency One check cashing, at 4126 Frankford Ave., ordering her to empty the contents of a safe into a bag and delivering it to a specific location.

Taylor complied with the orders, Verrecchio said, then returned to Currency One. The bandits then released the boy uninjured, allegedly making off with about $30,000 in cash, SEPTA passes, stamps and lottery tickets.

On Oct. 8, Philadelphia police, in cooperation with Bensalem Township police, captured one of the suspects at the Neshaminy Motor Inn on Route 1, just beyond the city limits. A civilian tip from the Citizens Crime Commission led to the arrest, Verrecchio said.

Thomas Conley, 28, of the 4200 block of Griscom St., about a block from Currency One, was charged with abduction and robbery, in addition to unrelated narcotics offenses. Maureen Felder, 22, also of the 4200 block of Griscom St., was arrested along with Conley.

After further investigation, detectives charged Felder with abduction in connection with an earlier heist at another Currency One in West Philadelphia. Police do not believe she participated in the Sept. 26 crime. Investigators are still seeking a third man who took part in the Sept. 26 crime.

Anyone with information about Hardy or the unknown assailant is asked to call Northwest Detectives at 215-686-3353.
